  • Switching to PowerShell for Build Script I've given up on FinalBuilder. It is a great build system; very easy to use, but it missing support for too many tools.  My current FinalBuild project contains mostly command line calls. So why use it? I've switched to PowerShell using PowerShell Plus to write the scripts.I'll take a look at PSake (powershell version of Rake?) when I get a chance and if it simplifiy things - though my PowerShell scripts are pretty straight forward.

  • Using less open source tools I've been swapping out commercial tools for open source tools lately. FinalBuilder for NAnt, VSDocman for Sandcastle/SFHB, and SmartInspect for log4net. I'm still a strong proponent of open source, but I believe in using the best tool for the job.

  • Loving SmartInspect I started using Gurock's SmartInspect logging tool about three months ago - replacing Log4Net. Great tool, particularly the logging console. It is not open source, but well worth the money. It helped me track down two subtle threading bugs in no time.

  • Switch to Mercurial? I played around with Mercurial this weekend and I like it better that Git. For me it is easier to use.  I'm still running into problems with Git were I have to force pushes/commits where I probably shouldn't be.  I'm going to switch the Xaye repo over to Mercurial and start using it for new client projects. I'll post how it goes.I'm using Codebase for project hosting and it is great that they support both Git and Mercurial (and Subversion...
